The efficacy and safety of medical cannabis in the management of chronic pain: A systematic review

ABSTRACT

Chronic pain is a worldwide health issue that over 20% of word’s population suffer from and it requires evidence-based treatment approaches. Chronic pain remains an unexplained condition that might be caused by biological, psychological and social factors. Managing it effectively is essential for improving the patients’ ability to perform daily activities, enjoy life and maintain independence. It could also mean reducing long-term healthcare costs. Alongside conventional approaches to chronic pain treatment, medical cannabis has become a subject of growing international interest and scientific investigation. The study aimed to assess the safety of medical cannabis as a novel approach to chronic pain treatment.
