Maurice Paul Auguste Charles Fabry 146th Birthday, (11 June 1867, Marseille – 11 December 1945, Paris)
He and Henri Buisson discovered the ozone layer in 1913
Maurice Paul Auguste Charles Fabry was born on June 1867, in Marsellie, France. He was a French physicist. In optics, he discovered an explanation for the phenomenon of interference fringes. Together with his colleague Alfred Perot he invented the Fabry-Perot interferometer. Fabry graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and received his doctorate from the University of Paris in 1892, for his work on interference fringes, which established him as an authority in the field of optics and spectroscopy. In 1904, he was appointed as professor of Physics at the University of Marseille, where he spent 26 years. He published 197 scientific papers, 14 books, and over 100 popular articles. In the United States his work was recognized by the Henry Draper Medal from the National Academy of Sciences (1919) and the Franklin Medal from the Franklin Institute (1921). In 1927 he was elected to the French Academy of Sciences. He was the first person to discover the Ozone Layer in 1913 with his partner; Henri Buisson. The Ozone Layer is in Earth’s atmosphere and contains relatively high concentrations of ozone.

Political upheaval and inconsistent policies as predictors of poor academic performance in Ogun state public secondary schools, Nigeria

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of political upheavals and inconsistent policies on students’ academic performance in Ogun State public secondary schools. Descriptive research design was used for the study. Forty (40) secondary schools were randomly selected and 10 teachers were selected from each school. Questionnaire was the major instrument used while students WAEC results were used to ascertain the performances of the students.

Psychrophiles: Defects triggering organisms in pasteurized milk

A study was conducted to determine microbial activity in pasteurized milk under prolonged storage at 4oC temperature for 20 days. Psychrophilic count, mesophilic count, coliform count, yeast and mold count along with MBRT tests were conducted each day at the interval of 24 hours. Each day physical defects and sensory evaluation has been also examined.
