About the Cover

Wetland's values are considered an important part of global ecosystems. The primary aim of this study was to develop a methodology for the assessment of wetland suitability potential by employing a Geographic information system (GIS) and Remote sensing (RS) technique. This method applied to the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Soil samples (0 to 30cm depth) were collected, analyzed, and interpolated using Inverse distance weighted techniques in ArcGIS 10. Supervised classification algorithm was used to get land cover information using Landsat 8 Operational land images. A GIS-based land suitability analysis was performed after identifying the following criteria: Land surface temperature, Modified normalized difference water index, Land use/land cover, Soil adjusted vegetation index, and Enhanced built-up and bare land index of the study area.
