This article deals with the report of the Titan cardinal fish (Holapogon maximus) from a
new locality (Chennai, South-East coast of India, Bay of Bengal). A total of four
specimens were collected from the Kasimedu fish landing centre, located on the
northern southeastern coast of India from the trawl bycatch in September 2023. The
morphometric and meristic characteristics of the specimens are described and
discussed, along with the otolith shape and structure. This finding represents the
third record of this species from the east coast of India and the fourth record from
Indian waters.
